For those of us who stick with our convictions that organic and sustainable are truly best, it can be very difficult to not break the bank with grocery purchases. About a year ago, I personally started an experiment to feed my family only organic, sustainable and humanely raised food. I had just watched Food, Inc. and read Michael Pollan’s, In Defense of Food. I was convicted to raise the standard in our own food. The thought of our meat or poultry coming from a concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) was completely nauseating to me. That being said, for about 8 months I killed our food budget. Seriously, killed it! In fact, in all honesty, I more than doubled our food budget per month and I would still go over the budget because of a lack of planning. Then a good friend of mine told me to check out Azure Standard.
Azure Standard is a company who believes that food should be grown and raised, organically, sustainably, and humanely and still believes that prices should be kept at a level where the average Joe can afford it! Woohoo!
I have now been using Azure for my bulk food purchases for about 6 months. The quality of the products has been great and the system of making purchases relatively easy to navigate. Although, if you get overwhelmed easily it will probably take a little while to get used to the plethora of products Azure offers. Literally everything from fresh produce, grains, dried beans, skin care products, frozen meals (think Annie’s) to red wiggler worms. Not to mention, chicken feed and food storage materials like Mason jars and food-grade buckets. Truly a little bit of everything!
What I like the best is that Azure cuts out the “middle-man” and by doing so keep their costs to a minimum. For example, for years I have purchased organic sugar from Trader Joe’s. When I first started buying my sugar there I paid $1.99 per pound. Somewhere along the way, the price was raised to $3.99 a pound. I honestly don’t know when that happened! Azure sells organic sugar in bulk for $1.50! Of course their prices fluctuate, but when I ordered my sugar last month I paid $1.47 a pound. That’s a HUGE savings!
As for delivery, Azure ships via semi-truck to designated drop points or via UPS. (My drop point is approximately five miles from my house.) The Azure deliveries are almost nation-wide as they go as far east as Kentucky, up into Canada and as far south as Texas, including all the western states.
I would highly recommend this company! They are truly setting a standard of nutritious, and sustainable food in our nation where you have to be extremely savvy to avoid genetically modified food. Give Azure Standard a try as you prepare your Provision Room and let them know we sent you! Or even better join in the PARTY and win a $50 gift card towards your purchase!
