So your kids have the Summer off from school, but you don’t want their brains to turn to complete mush.  What’s a mom to do? Sneak in some learning, disguised as a movie club!  A few years ago we did this with our kids and it was amazing!  Watch fun family movies and learn how to think critically about movies, find the plot and message, examine the characters, etc.  We enjoyed it so much we put it together and offer it as a complete unit/study curriculum!  Check it out here: Film Critique for Kids.  Would be perfect for use in your family or with friends in a co-op setting.

Vegan Soup (use up the seasons best produce and not heat up the house in the process!)

Cactus Salsa (we canned a bunch a few years ago and it was a huge hit!)

Trout Pate with Yorkshire Pudding (This is a really great picnic meal! Pair with a glass of light white wine or a rosé and you’ll be in heaven!)

and don’t forget to get your copy of ALL THINGS VEG!  This is our cookbook with tested, tried-and-true, veggie recipes that will convert even your most carnivorous eaters into veggie lovers!  Half the recipes come from our own kitchens and half from our amazing readers!  All tested and graded by our foodie friends, picky husbands, and adventurous children!

Veg-cover-pageRest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the blue sky, is by no means waste of time. ~John Lubbock, “Recreation,” The Use of Life, 1894
