Prayer for week of July 6 — Finding JesusOn Jul 7, 2015 Prayer Closet No Comments Tags: Mothering, Prayer
Every Monday Kristina and I have been connecting via Skype and praying the Joyful Mysteries. We offer our prayer time mostly for our husbands and children. In the fifth mystery, we meditate on Mary and Joseph finding Jesus in the temple.
Imagine that for a moment.
Jesus is with them. But, then He’s not. And they don’t recall exactly when He stopped being with them.
They have to search. They have to ask others. They have to retrace their steps.
I kind of know how they feel. Don’t you?
I’ve walked with Jesus all my life. But, did you ever have one of those days when you suddenly realized that you are not walking with Him? You don’t recall the exact moment that you left Him (’cause He doesn’t leave us, you know), but nevertheless you search and sure enough, you are not with Him. And so you have to retrace your steps.
This might be a big backsliding event. But, more often then not, it is just one-of-those-days. One of the average Mom days when suddenly you lose your temper with your child and discipline too harshly for small infractions. Or unexplained snarkiness that gets unleashed on your unsuspecting spouse. As soon as it’s over you think, “Where in the world did that come from?!”
Pause. Look for Jesus. Is He among your party? Did you leave Him back in the temple? Go find Him.
Finding Jesus is one of the great joys of walking with Jesus. He accepting and embracing and calming and reassuring. He was right there about His Father’s business.
Meditate on the great mystery of finding Jesus. Look for Him this week. You may find Him in surprising places.
