Food Revolution Day Cooking Class

In honor of,

FRD 2014

the Provision Room and Urban Homestead are teaming up for a cooking class for moms, dads, and kids!!

“Getting Kids Excited About Food”

If you struggle with picky eaters and children who don’t want to be involved in the kitchen, then this class is for you!!  We, Daja (mom to eight) and Kristina (personal chef and mom of two,) will share some of our tried and true ways of getting kids excited about cooking real food from scratch. We’ll share ways to get kids “food smart” and make cooking fun for everyone. We hope this class will inspire a love of food that will last a lifetime!

The class will include a discussion on unhealthy convenience foods and the ties to childhood obesity.  We’ll compare typical off-the-shelf convenience food with our kicked-up-nutrition food.  (Have you looked at food labels lately?  ‘All Natural’ doesn’t mean anything and how do you find those pesky GMO corn and soy derivatives?)

We’ll share easy ways to get kids in the kitchen and get them cooking from scratch. As a bonus our daughters will be there to share their favorite recipes including mac-n-cheese, chicken tacos and pizza.
